300 Ondo state women get cash grant from Federal Government

Three hundred women across the eighteen local government areas of Ondo state have benefitted from the special cash grant of the federal government.

At the flag off of the scheme, held at the government house ground in Akure, the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Sadiya Farouq said the grant is expected to increase access to financial capital required for economic activities.

Government house correspondent, Joseph Ikugbonmire reports that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and host of other top government functionaries were on ground to receive the federal government delegation.

The special cash grant is one of the numerous social intervention programmes initiated by the Buhari administration to improve the general well being of women and the vulnerable in the nation.

Addressing hundreds of beneficiaries at the event, the minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and social development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk said the transfer and grant is one of the methods used by the government to empower the poorest members of the nation.

The minister stressed that the scheme was introduced this year by her ministry to reduce poverty and bring about social inclusion especially to the women and the vulnerable.

In his remarks Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who highlighted schemes introduced by his administration to cater for women and the less privileged said all is to key into the vision of the government at the centre in supporting indigent people.

While commending President Buhari for the various intervention schemes aimed at assisting the citizens, Akeredolu enjoined the beneficiaries of the special cash grant to make judicious use of the money to better their life and children.

Two of the beneficiaries, Comfort Komuyi and Christiana Asanbe who spoke in yoruba lauded the president for counting them worthy to benefit from the grant.

Focal person of the scheme in the state, Mrs Bunmi Ademosu reiterated the commitment of the APC government both at the state and federal levels to prioritising the welfare of the people.
