Ace broadcaster, Olanrewaju, buried amid showers of eulogy



The end of man often comes without whispers nor signals of farewell.

But the handwritings of great men, however abrupt the end are vivid on the sands of time.

This was evident as the remains of the ace broadcaster and arbitrator, Olalekan Olanrewaju was committed to mother earth in Akure.

The burial service of the late broadcasting sage witnessed a large turnout of friends, colleagues, family and people who he had impacted during his lifetime.

He invested his days in service to humanity, Olalekan Olanrewaju a media sage won the hearts of many in the 80s with the eloquence with which he anchored “ọgbọn Orí” a quiz programme on the state television, he characteristically took over the airspace with his dispute resolution show on television, showing depth and tact in arbitrating conflicts alongside his team of elderly panelists.

The night has come when he can no longer work but the archives of history are testaments to his great exploits. The Ago-Are born broadcaster yielded the stage on the 19th of August this year.

The First Baptist Church Akure was filled to capacity as the body of Late Olalekan Olanrewaju laid in front of the altar with family, friends, Colleagues and well Wishers assembled to pay “Olori Ebi” as he was fondly called their last respects.

The officiating minister and senior pastor Of First Baptist Church Akure Olumuyiwa Ige. while eulogizing the impactful life the deceased lived charged Christians to live significant lives.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, represented by the Chief of Staff, Olugbenga Ale noted that the impactful legacies of the deceased on society particularly in Ondo State will never be forgotten quickly.

His former colleagues extolled his exemplary life.

The deceased was thereafter taken to his final resting place amid emotions.

Entertainment of guests thereafter followed.

The late Olalekan Olanrewaju was born on 5th February, 1956 in Ago-Are, Oyo state.

He worked as a teacher in Odigbo Local Government of Ondo State between 1974 and 1976 and from 1979 to 1980. Thereafter, he joined the Ondo State Television [OSTV] now (OSRC) in 1981 as an Announcer/Producer.

As a broadcaster with the OSRC, The late Olalekan Olanrewaju demonstrated rare dedication and commitment to duty. Among the Programmes he produced and anchored were Egbani é laja and Agbọrandun on Radio.

He died at age 67.
