Akeredolu administration gets commendation for disposition to people with disabilities

The present administration in Ondo state has been commended for its commitment to the welfare of Persons with disabilities

On the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities, physically challenged persons in the state said Givernor Akeredolu has shown that PWDs can truly rely on government for support.

Orange FM’s Sola Filani reports that the world disability day also known as international day of Persons with disabilities is a day set aside by the United Nations to promote equal participation of Persons with disabilities in all aspects of societal development.

Celebrating the day in Akure, Persons with disabilities gathered at Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium where they deliberated about their prospects as well as the challenges facing them.

Board Chairman of the Agency for the persons with disabilities Mr. Sanmi Alegbeleye expressed gratitude to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the employment opportunities granted some of them recently.

Mr. Alegbeleye charged the society at large to embrace the people with disabilities and accord them their respect and dignity.

The Special Assistant to the Governor on the Special Persons, Mrs Folasade Arise said it’s been new dawn for the persons with disabilities under the Present Administration.

Other Persons with disabilities, Ademeko Busayo and Emmanuel Ajayi who spoke at the event pleaded for more attention from government and the society.

Some members of the public who spoke on the celebration called for unity of purpose among the special Persons

The theme for this year’s celebration is Building back better; towards an inclusive, accessible and sustainable Post-Covid -19 World for Persons with disabilities.
