Ondo State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Wale Akinterinwa, says the present administration has been able to be prudent with the state finances in the last six years because it’s best for the citizenry.
He stated this when he received the Ondo State House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation in office, in Akure.
Akinterinwa while briefing the committee who was visiting for the first time since inauguration, explained that the ministry is saddled with the responsibility to manage state funds which are for infrastructural and other financial needs.
He noted that Governor Akeredolu’s prudent management of resources has helped to stabilize the state financially and that salaries are paid as and when due including those he inherented from the previous administration.
He added that the ministry also sources for ways to generate funds in order to boost the Internally Generated Revenue of the state and involve in crafting of budget for all round development.
The Commissioner assured that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with the House to live up to expectations and function effectively despite the economic situation of the Country.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi appreciated the state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the Commissioner and his team for their roles and commitment, noting that the legislature will continue to support every move to enhance transparency of governance in financing in the State.
He said the Ministry must be vibrant based on its importance in carrying out transparency administration, informed that the Committee will come for proper oversight.
Other Lawmakers who described the Ministry as the engine room of any administration, encouraged them to put in more efforts in order for the government to achieve more feats.
