Akeredolu receives ACPN’s award for dedicated service, renews commitment to serving mankind

The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, (ACPN), has honoured Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu with an award
In recognition of his administration’s commitment towards sustainable health care delivery to the people.

Akeredolu was honoured along side other distinguished Nigerians including a former Governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwanso at the 39th scientific conference of the association held at the international conference centre, Abuja.

Orange FM’s Joseph Ikugbonmire reports that eminent citizens including the Deputy Governor-elect of Info state, Lucky Ayedatiwa and the Chairman of APC in the state, Ade Adetimehin accompanied the governor to receive the award.

The conference with the theme ‘optimizing primary healthcare service delivery in Nigeria: untapped potentials of community pharmacists’ was organized to meet minds on the enhanced growth of the body.

National Chairman of ACPN, Dr Sam Adekola who noted the remarkable recognition and support Governor Akeredolu has given to the association expressed optimism that the award will spur him to do more for the body in the interest of the people

Adekola while describing the role of community pharmacists during lockdown as pivotal called for full recognition of the association for optimal primary healthcare service delivery in Nigeria.

The Minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire who stressed the need for all health professionals to work towards addressing the fundamental health challenges of the people reiterated the present administration’s readiness to involve members of the body in its journey to universal health coverage..

Earlier Chairman on the occasion, and Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi represented by his Special Assistant on Federal matters, Makinde Araoye said the role of community pharmacists is crucial to primary healthcare services.

After receiving his award, Governor Akeredolu thanked the association for the honour done him and pledged his readiness to continually promote and prioritize the well being of the people of his state.

Akeredolu while emphasising the need for professional bodies to be actively involved in the Nigerian project assured of his determination to engage pharmacists and ensure they hold key positions in the state.

At the event, late Rufus Giwa from Ondo state was given a posthumous award for his contributions to the development of ACPN while alive.
