Muslim Faithful have been encouraged to reflect on the love, sharing and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim to better society.
Chief Imam of Alhaji Khaleel Fayehinmi Mosque at Ondo State government house, Dr Yunus Anola made the appeal in his Eid-el-Kabir message.
Orange FM’s Oluseye Akinwalere reports that Alhaji Anola reminded worshippers that the celebration was to commemorate the exemplary life of Prophet Ibrahim who obeyed the directive of God to sacrifice his only son, after which a ram was later provided as substitute.
He encouraged the faithful to allow the celebration to bring them closer to God by emulating the gesture of love, giving and sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
While thanking Governor Akeredolu for providing the edifice for the glorification of God, the cleric said he believes that the gesture will further enable muslims at the government house and it’s environs to gather and offer their prayers regularly.
Some faithful who commented on the celebration gave thanks to God for the grace to be alive to witness this year’s celebration and called for unity of purpose as the country faces diverse challenges.
Ram was later slaughtered to re- enact the willingness of prophet Ibrahim who almost sacrificed his only son as an act of obedience to God.
This is the first festival to be celebrated at the khaleel Fawehinmin mosque since it was inaugurated some weeks ago.
