Commercial activities resume fully in Akure after EndSARS protests

Commercial activities have resumed fully in Akure, the Ondo State capital as commuters, business owners and residents now ply the roads and trade with no interference.

Orange FM’s Sola Filani reports that the usual hustle and bustle was noticed in the metropolis on Monday.

The 24hour curfew declared across the state by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, which put commerce and all other activities on hold was lifted last Friday

During a visit to the popular Oba’s Market in Akure, the Ondo state capital, some
Merchants, Kenneth, Francis and Benjamin expressed joy that life had returned to normal.

A road-side trader, Omolayo Akinyemi lamented that a lot of damage was done to her trade during the protest.

Some commercial Motorists, Monday Paulinus, Kayode Afolabi and Bodunde Kayode appealed to the government to swiftly attend to the demands of the youth in order to sustain the new found peace in the country.

They however condemned wanton destruction of Private and government property in the state, calling on the youth to always be peaceful during protests.

The Nigerian youth had recently embarked on a peaceful protest tagged #EndSARS to demand the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit, as well as other reforms in the Police
