Stakeholders in sports and football administration have commended the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Ondo state chapter for setting the pace by organizing a debate to engage chairmanship candidates ahead the state football association election.
At the football debate held at the NUJ press centre in Akure tagged “Ondo football matters”, they noted that the engagement would go a long way to chart a new course in the development of football and produce the right candidate for the state FA chairmanship position.

The maiden edition of the football debate organized by SWAN Ondo state chapter for candidates contesting in the state FA election brought together sports and football stakeholders to chart a way forward for football especially at the grassroots.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman, Ondo state Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Wahab Bankole said the debate is the first interactive engagement for football stakeholders on their vision and action plan to develop the game in the state.
While commending the leadership of SWAN in Ondo state, the Chairman on the occasion, Chief Alex Ajipe pledged his readiness to partner whoever emerges as winner of the election
In his goodwill message, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of journalists, Ondo State Council, Adetona Aderoboye who emphasized on the importance of youth involvement in football said the engagement would go a long way in enhancing sports development in Ondo state.
The General manager, Ondo State Sports Council, Mr Babatunde Henry and Director of sports, Ministry of Youth and Sports development, Mrs Evelyn Lebi said the debate will throw up the right candidate for the chairmanship position.
The four contesters were invited by Ondo state SWAN but only Mr Dele Ologbese and Mr Akin Akinbobola participated while Mr Dele Ajayi and Mr Henry Akingboju were absent.
The two candidates present were engaged on their manifestoes and what they intend to do to change the narrative in developing football at the grassroots.
Certificates of participation were awarded to the candidates present.
