Friends and family of late legal icon, Professor Olawoyin bid him farewell



Friends and family of late legal icon, Professor Gabriel Adesiyan Olawoyin, SAN have bid him the final farewell.

Orange FM’s Olumide Adeluwoye reports that Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu charged the children of the deceased to keep the legacy of their father intact.

Addressing the congregation at the commendation service for the accomplished legal luminary at Cathedral of St. Philip Ayetoro, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Governor Akeredolu said the professor was a top-flight teacher of Law, mentor and leader to many generations of members of the bar and the bench.

Earlier in his sermon, the former Bishop of Ife Diocese, Rt Rev. Oluranti Odubogun said Professor Olawoyin gave all he had to serve God and the Church of God, describing him as a rare gem endowed with great intellect, and a man who was trustworthy.

The cleric said christians must always be conscious of the fact that they are mortal beings and that one day everyone will give account of their stewardship to the Creator.

Professor Gabriel Adesiyan Olawoyin, SAN was the Chancellor of the Diocese of Ife in the Anglican Communion until his call to glory at the age of 81, and he is survived by wife, children and grandchildren.

Other dignitaries at the service included former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore and former Chief of Defence Staff, General Alani Akinrinade.
