Friends, family and well wishers stormed Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State to celebrate the fulfilled life of Mrs Alice Adebimpe Awe, mother in law to Ondo State Deputy Governor-Elect, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa as she was laid to rest at the age of 80.
It was a gathering of eminent personalities at The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Oke-Ado Area in Ibadan for the funeral outing and thanksgiving service in honor of late Mrs Alice Awe.
Orange FM’s OLUMIDE ADELUWOYE reports that Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his wife, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, members of the state House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, top government functionaries and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) attended the burial events.
Mrs Alice Adebimpe Awe, a descendant of the family of Owosho was a devoted Christian
Having obtained relevant qualification as a nurse, she joined the civil service of western Nigeria, starting her career at Adeoyo state hospital Yemetu Ibadan in the late 60’s.
She retired from Osun State Hospital, Iwo as a Senior Matron in 1994 after an illustrious career.
Late Mrs Awe died on 7th December, 2019 at 80, and a funeral thanksgiving Service was held in her honour on 20th November, 2020 at the Apostolic church Okeado, Ibadan after which family and guests converged at Daylan Events And Conference Center, Sango Eleyele Road.
Guests eulogised the departed mother of Mrs Esther Ayedatiwa as a woman with an unusual passion for children
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Femi Agagu said the deceased lived an impactful and righteous life filled with love for humanity.
Chairman Ondo State Media Group, Mr Kunle Adebayo noted that late Mrs Awe was an example of a great mother.
The children of the deceased, Queen Iyabo Olagunoye, wife of the Ondo State Deputy Governor-Elect, Mrs Esther Aiyedatiwa and Mr Pekun Awe described their mother as very accommodating and appreciated God for the impact she had on all her children and everyone around her.
Ondo State Deputy Governor-Elect, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa described late Mrs Awe as a rare gem and a mother who would be greatly missed.
Several top officials of government in Ondo state graced the occasion.
