Governor Akeredolu visits Osun counterpart over attack by hoodlums

Ondo State Governor and Chairman South-West Governors’ Forum, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has visited his Osun State counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola over an attack on him by suspected thugs in Osogbo, the State capital.

Akeredolu who had earlier condemned the attack by suspected thugs that hijacked the #EndSars protest,
described it as most disturbing and unfortunate, adding that everyone must come together and condemn the attack.

Government house correspondent, Joseph Ikugbonmire reports that Akeredolu was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Governor-Elect, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Since the news of the attack on Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola by suspected hoodlums that hijacked the #end sars protest broke, it has attracted the concerns of many which led to the visit by the South West Governor’s forum Chairman, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Governor Akeredolu appealed to the protesting youths to suspend the protest for now and allow government look into their demands.

The Governor who declared his support for the #EndSars protest and the right of the citizens to protest, however expressed worry that the genuine youths have been infiltrated by hoodlums who are ready to hijack the peaceful protest to unleash violence.

Governor Akeredolu who lauded the security team of his Osun state counterpart for being able to handle the situation despite the attack also used the occasion to thank Governor Oyetola for his support for his re-election.

Responding, Governor Oyetola appreciated Akeredolu for the visit and said the #EndSars protest has gone beyond what is expected, saying although protest is legitimate, hoodlums and political thugs have hijacked it from the genuine youths.

Oyetola congratulated Governor Akeredolu on his victory at the just conducted election in Ondo state.
