Hope emerges for greater food security in Ondo state as Akeredolu inuagurates maintainance gang for Molege-Igbokoro pilot road project



Ondo state government and the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project have inaugurated a maintenance gang for the ongoing Molege Igbokoro pilot road project.

ORANGE FM’s Odunayo odeja reports that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who was represented by his Special Adviser on Rural Development, Babatunde kolawole said the present administration in the state is dedicated to making life easier for people in rural communities.

In recent years Molege, an agarian community in Ose Local Government Area had experienced various difficulties in taking their farm produce to the market.

So, as part of it’s Rural development project, Ondo state government in collaboration with the World Bank through Rural Access and Agricultural marketing project RAAMP, commenced rehabilitation of the Molege-Igbokoro pilot road in 2018.

At the inauguration of the maintenance gang for the road, Governor Akeredolu said lack of maintenance culture in the past was responsible for dilapidation of government projects hence the need to create a team which will be a reference point across the nation.

He reiterated government’s commitment to alleviating the suffering of people in rural communities through life changing projects across the 18 Local Government Areas.

The project coordinator of RAAMP in Ondo state Mr Olorunnegan Zachheus who said the Molege road would be asphalted as soon as the full work takes off added that over 150 rural road projects will be done across the 18 local government areas through partnership between Ondo state government and the world bank.

Leader of the community Chief Agboola Olupona thanked the Akeredolu administration for the initiative and urged the government to fast track construction of the road.

Ologun Elijah who spoke on behalf of the maintenance gang decried the condition of roads in the state in the recent past and thanked the present administration for it’s intervention.

Also farmers who spoke with Orange FM including Abubakar sadiq appreciated government for the project .

It is the expectation of Molege residents that the road project would be completed in no distant time.
