Imade College, Owo wins maiden Olowo Football competition

Imade College, Owo has defeated Uso Grammar School, Uso 1-0 to lift the cup of the maiden edition of Olowo Of Owo, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye Football Competition among Secondary Schools in Owo Local Government area.

Also Owo High School, Owo defeated Adeyeri Grammar School, Iyere by 2- O to clinch the bronze medal.

The final match was watched by a large crowd which included the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Folake Solanke as Special Guests of Honour and the Deputy governor, Lucky Ayedatiwa as Chairman amidst other important dignitaries from in and outside the State.

Soccer pundits described the competition as interesting and high in standard as both teams displayed high soccer artistry despite the rain.

Speaking at the Owo Township Stadium, the sponsor, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye emphasized the importance of engaging in sporting activities especially by the youth either as a professional career or vocation.

Oba Ogunoye said by doing so, their minds would be positively engaged in doing what is just in the society as against joining bad gangs that would eventually reshape their lives negatively.

The monarch opined that engaging in sports has become a huge investment where young people are comfortably earning a legitimate living, hence should be taken seriously by the youths so as to gain the much needed respect from the society especially among their peers.

Oba Ogunoye enjoined the youths to shun cultism and other unwholesome tendencies that will not do them any good.

Orange FM’s Olumide Adeluwoye reports that aside the giant trophy won by Imade College, Owo, others such as Highest Goals’ Scorer, Most Valuable Player, Best Goal Keeper and Best Coach of the tournament were rewarded with cash prizes, Medals and Certificate for Outstanding Performance.
