Iran Seeks Closer Ties With Neighbours After becoming Full SCO Member

President Ebrahim Raisi has expressed Iran’s willingness to have closer ties with its regional neighbours .

According to him his country rejected what he called the United States’ unilateralism as his country became a full member of the influential Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, SCO at its yearly conference in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan.

Senior officials from other full member states are China, India, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan .

Iran was an observer for 15 years but now expects the full membership to enhance its economy .

In a speech to the summit president Raisi emphasised his country’s foreign policy goal, which aims at expanding political, economic and cultural ties with countries across the region as well as protect it from unilateral punishments from the West.
