There was a lot of excitement everywhere yesterday as muslims in Akure the Ondo state capital took time to visit recreational centers, as well as supermarkets and eateries.
Orange FM’s Ebunoluwa Akinroyeje who went round town reports that the faithful defied the rains to treat themselves to a good time outside their homes.
Men, women and children were sited having fun at various locations around town as they celebrated eld-el-kabir.
They were seen shopping, playing games or dancing to music.
A visit to the Akure mall, recreation centers and eateries at Alagbaka, FUTA area, Cathedral junction and other places testified to the fact that celebration was in the air.
Some of the faithful who spoke with Orange FM expressed gratitude to Allah for sparing their lives and making it possible to celebrate the festival better than they did last year when Covid shut everyone’s door.
They also prayed for long life and the good of the land.
The federal government had earlier declared yesterday and today as holidays to mark Eid El Kabir.
