Stakeholders in the petroleum industry have called on the Federal Government to ensure that moribund refineries in the country are resuscitated as promised.
Vice Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr. Idowu Adebusuyi who featured on Orange FM’s Current Affair’s Programme “PERISCOPE” added his voice to the clamour for President Bola Tinubu to do everything humanly possible to bring newness into the petroleum industry.
Following the dilapidation of Nigeria’s petroleum products refineries and evident decay in the industry, Nigerians, home and abroad have in recent times intensified efforts to pressurize government to Revive the oil processing outfits towards boosting the nation’s dwindling revenue.
On 31st of July this year, President Bola Tinubu in his national broadcast on the Nigerian economy made a pledge to get the Port Harcourt refinery working again by December, this year.
Since then, many Nigerians have held Tinubu by his words, urging him to fulfil this promise and many others he had earlier made towards revamping the nation’s economy.
Mele Kyari of the NNPCL who visited the Port Harcourt refinery to see how far work has gone on it, encouraged citizens to keep their fingers crossed as work is currently ongoing at the facility.
Adebusuyi who blamed the rottenness in the petrol production sector on mismanagement and poor monitoring, hailed Tinubu for removing subsidy off petroleum products and encouraged him to be more proactive than preceding governments in his quest to better the lots of Nigerians.
The IPMAN Vice Chairman also pledged that the Association will give the government and all other concerned bodies the needed support to see to the much awaited reawakening of the petroleum industry which is germane to Nigeria’s economic survival.
He however pleaded with fellow Nigerians to bear with President Tinubu’s administration as things will hopefully get better soon.
Other Concerned individuals have appealed to Nigerians to be more patriotic and committed to the Nigerian state, as government alone can not bring about the needed change we all desire.
