The Ondo State Government has suspended all activities in the state forest reserves with immediate effect.
This directive was given at the state executive council meeting at the governor’s office in Akure.
Governmment House Correspondent, Olumide Adeluwoye reports that at the Exco meeting, governmment also said Covid-19 vaccination is now criteria to access churches, mosques and other public places, among other matters.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting,Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo said the State Security Network, Amotekun Corps has been directed to enforce the council’s decision on forest reserves, and that anyone found at the reserves will be made to face the full extent of the law.
He also explained that the Head of Service has been directed to restructure the Ministry of Natural Resources to make it work in tandem with expectations of the government and serve the interest of the people.
The information commissioner said the council also decided that all residents of the state must be vaccinated against Covid-19 to contain the spread of the Delta variant of the virus.
Ojogo added that after two weeks from now anyone who is not vaccinated would not be allowed access to the governor’s office complex and offices in the state public service.
Also speaking with newsmen,Special Adviser to the Governor on Entrepreneurship Development, Summy Smart Francis said the council also approved deployment of brand new swamp buggy to the three senatorial districts of the state to address flooding witnessed in the past few weeks.
Also the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Sir Charles Titiloye said the council approved that a memo for establishment of Ondo State Competition and Consumer Protection Agency be sent to the House of Assembly.
Titiloye also announced names of new traditional rulers and Chiefs approved by the council.
They are Prince Gabriel Olaolu Olojido, the Eleti of Eti in Ifedore Local Government Area; David Adeola Garba, the Onisosan of Sosan in Akoko South-East Local Government Area; Prince Olaleye Ebenezer Babatunde, the Oluboropa of Iboropa in Akoko North-East Local Government Area; Prince Raphael Olaleye Ajibola Oluyede, the Alayede of Ayede-Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area; and Prince Benson Ayodele Adebiyi, the new Elefifa of Efifa Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North- West Local Government Area.#
