Ondo police command arrests ten people in connection with arson across the state



The Ondo State Police command has arrested 10 suspected hoodlums who were involved in destruction of both private and public property during the hijacked ENDSARS protests in the state.

Commissioner, Bolaji Salami said the suspects would soon be paraded and charged to court.

ORANGEFM’s Igbekele Ologun reports that the ENDSARS protest which began peacefully was suddenly hijacked by hoodlums who then caused mayhem in some states of the federation.

In Ondo state, property destroyed include a local government Secretariat, a police station,

a correctional facility, high court complex, shuttle buses as well as other vehicles and the house of a chieftain of the APC in Okitipupa.

Others destroyed include a police station at Ode aye, some private and public buildings at Ore, Ondo city, as well as offices of the APC and PDP in Akure the state capital.

Speaking on the arrest of the suspected hoodlums during the crisis, The Ondo state police commissioner Bolaji Salami said 10 suspected hoodlums in connection with the destruction of property had been arrested.

Salami said those arrested were not ENDSARS protesters but individuals suspected to have hijacked the process to cause mayhem.

On the general security situation in Ondo state the police image maker Tee Lee Ikoro said the command is poised to ensure that lives and property of the people are well protected.

He said the police authority is equally working with the Nigerian correctional service to retrieve prisoners released by hoodlums who forced their way into various correctional centres across the state.
