Ondo State Government Affirms Payment Of Outstanding Project Funds To All Contractors



Ondo State Government has promised that the ongoing multi-million naira, 250-bed Teaching Hospital at the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo will soon be ready for commissioning.

The government also says construction of the 4.5km Agadagba-Obon/Pereama Ajapa road in Ese-Odo Local Government area of the state will be executed as a priority project.

Commissioner for Lands and Infrastructure, Mr. Raimi Aminu made the promises during an unscheduled inspection of work on the road and hospital projects.

Governmment House Correspondent, Olumide Adeluwoye reports that the commisioner also confirmed that all the contractors working with the state have been paid their outstanding project funds.

Mr. Aminu said construction of Agadagba-Obon/Pereama Ajapa road project was flagged-off prior to the second term campaign of Governor Akeredolu stressing that when completed it will open up socio-economic activities across benefiting communities.

He said 3.8 kms out of 4.5 kms of the road project had been completed with asphalt overlay, emphasizing that the remaining length would be completed within the next few weeks.

On the 250-bed teaching hospital at UNIMED TH, Mr. Aminu explained that the project is in fulfilment of Governor Akeredolu’s promise to build state-of-the-art Teaching Hospital facilities for UNIMED at Ondo and Akure to add value to health care delivery in Nigeria.

Also, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo expressed gratitude to Governor Akeredolu for fulfilling his promise to the people of Ese-Odo.

He applauded the quality of work done as well as high level of competence and commitment deployed for the success of the project, adding that what has now become a good road used to be a footpath.

Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, UNIMED Teaching Hospital Complex, Ondo Dr Gbala Michael explained that when the project is completed it will put the teaching hospital above others in Nigeria.

Others lauded Governor Akeredolu for executing life transforming projects across the three senatorial districts of the state despite paucity of funds.
