Ondo state government has denied rumours doing the rounds that some elements are extorting drivers and collecting more than the amount agreed for the sale of ticket.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu on Special Duties and Strategy, Dr Doyin Odebowale said the information is misleading and should not be tolerated.
Odebowale who said the allegation had been investigated noted that the rumours are the handiwork of a few disgruntled elements in the transportation business in the state.
Odebowale said no one is allowed to sell government tickets above the official amount of 300 naira daily.
He urged residents of the state to report any form of defiant behaviour from the ticket issuers to appropriate authorities
It would be recalled that Ondo State government ordered the indefinite suspension of activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state and had taken over sales of tickets to commercial drivers.
