The 2020 Budget was signed into Law on the 31st of December, 2019 after all budgetary processes had been completed, thereby paving way for commencement of the implementation of the Budget with effect from 1st of January, 2020.
However, two months into the year, Coronavirus pandemic broke out, leading to worldwide lock-downs which resultantly turned down the world economy, and indeed changed the permutations of the macro-economic variables like crude oil price and production benchmarks, inflation and exchange rates among others used in making forecasts for 2020 Budget, both at the State and National levels.
