Ondo state police command has vowed to fish out perpetrators of the robbery incident at a bank in Ilara mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo state which claimed the lives of three people including a journalist, Olubunmi Afuye.
The police PRO, Tee Leo Ikoro said the robbers shattered the bullet-proof door of the bank with dynamite before gaining access into the banking hall.
Orange FM’s Flora Iweanya who followed up on the incident reports that an undisclosed amount of money was said to have been carted away by the hoodlums.
A visit to the bank at Ilara mokin where the robbery took place presented a gory sight as the building was completely shattered and blood stains were significant in the vicinity.
Their was apprehension from residents of the area as they expressed shock at the turn of events on the black Thursday which started out as a quiet day.
A witness said the slain Okada rider was hit by a stray bullet while the journalist Bunmi Afuye was passing by when he ran into the robbers while the operation was ongoing.
Afuye was said to have been shot by the robbers who saw him driving towards the bank road.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Tee Leo Ikoro Who said the policeman was killed by the dynamite used by the dare devil robbers.
He however revealed that men of the force are on the trail of the criminals emphasizing that justice must prevail.
Ikoro said criminals numbering about 15 carried out the heinous act, and investigation is ongoing.
The police spokesperson however condemned the attack on the police station at Ilara mokin by angry residents adding that they should cooperate with the police to apprehend the criminals
