Towards ensuring compliance with the restriction order of the state government, limiting the operation of Okada riders between 6 am and 6pm daily, the state Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami has sought the co-operation of the Okada riders to reduce the current security challenges in the state.
The Police commissioner at a Parley with Okada riders at the Police Officers Mess in Akure insisted that the current wave of killings & Kidnapping must stop forthwith.
OrangeFM’s Sola Filani reports that In view of the current security challenges in some parts of the state, where some criminals are disguising as Okada riders to perpetrate evil, the state government recently restricted the operations of the Commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders.
The government believes that the restriction would checkmate the activities of the criminals who are responsible for the recent killings and kidnappings.
Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami appealed to the Okada riders to unmask criminals hiding under them.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on security , Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo, harped on the need for the implementation of existing rules guilding Okada operations.
Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special duties snd Strategy, Dr. Doyin Odebowale absolved the regular okada riders from the criminal acts but charged them to assist the state government to nip insecurity in the bud.
Representatives of the okada riders Association in Ondo state, Mr. Lawande Ajogbodo and Mr. Gafar Oyelere thanked the state government for ensuring peaceful atmosphere in the state, promising to co-operate with government in that direction
