Igisogba is a community in the suburbs of Akure, the Ondo state capital reputed to be a place of happy people, but a visit to the area now shows a people in shock.

No fewer than 50 residents of the small community have been rendered homeless as rainstorm destroyed their houses beyond repair on Sunday night.

Orange FM’s Opeoluwa Oludare reports that the rainstorm did not spare church and school buildings while a major part of the community is now without power supply due to damaged electricity poles.

Some affected residents of the community described their experience on Sunday as traumatising.

The Chairman, Landlords’ Association of Igisogba Community Mr. Ebenezer Ojo said the loss suffered by the community is monumental and pleaded for government’s support.

Environmental analysts have always reiterated the need to plant trees to serve as wind breakers, so that at times like this the impact of rainstorm would be reduced.
