Schools reopen in Ondo state after seven months of Covid-19 break



Private and public schools in Ondo State yesterday resumed academic Activities after seven months of Covid-19 break.

In some of the schools visited by ORANGEFM in Akure, the Ondo State capital students, pupils and teachers were seen complying with Covid-19 protocols as directed by the State Government.

Olumide Adeluwoye reports that very early in the morning students , pupils and teachers were already engaged in academic activities.

For more than six months the negative impact of Covid-19 was felt across all sectors of the nation’s economy just as schools, social and religious gathering were shut to curtail the spread of the virus

Following the significant improvement in the fight against Covid-19, government started making moves to gradually reopen the economy, schools , religious centres among others .

Ondo state government last week joined the league of states reopening schools with a call to all school owners to put in place strategies that would ensure total compliance with Covid-19 protocols.

Some of the pupils and Students who shared their experiences while at home said they are happy to be back in school.

Speaking on the resumption the Proprietress of the Premier Royale International School Ijapo Mrs Odunayo Iyiola-Afolabi and principal of Muslim High School, Alhaji Yakub Shafe-Ogbera said it feels good to see the students back to school and promised that the laid down Covid-19 protocols would be strictly adhered to.

Other school administrators said they would be thorough in their teaching modules to cover lost ground for the students.

In their reactions, the State Chairman of NUT, Mr. Victor Amoko and his ASUSS counterpart, Mr Tajudeen Olatunji said teachers are always ready to do their jobs.

Some of the schools visited include Muslim High School, Estate High School, Ejioba High School Oba Ile, Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Caring heart mega Primary School and Premier Royale International School IJAPO among others.
