Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has led other governors in the south west as well as traditional rulers to a meeting at the instance of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, at Ibadan.
The meeting which had in attendance heads of security agencies and other stakeholders was to address the incessant herders and farmers clashes in the South-West region.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, governor Akeredolu who is also the chairman south west governors forum said the Chief of Staff to President could not make it to the meeting due to bad weather condition that affected flight operations.
Akeredolu noted that among other things, it was jointly agreed at the meeting that urgent steps must be taken to prevent forest reserves from being taken over by criminals to address insecurity in the South-West.
Present at the meeting are the host and Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde; Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi; Osun state Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and Ogun state Governor, Dapo Abiodun.
The ooni of ife, oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi the chairman council of obas in ondo state, Oba Frederick Akinruntan among other traditional rulers were also in attendance.
