Huge wildfires in California and Minnesota are forcing tourists to change their plans in two of US vacation spots
as a result of the conflagration.
The wildfires have razed hundreds of homes and now advancing towards the resort cities of Lake Tahoe even as tens of thousands of firefighters are working hard to put out the flames.
On Wednesday, the Caldor Fire was less than 32km (20 miles) east of the lake that straddles the California-Nevada state line as weather experts blamed climate change for the harsh conditions.
Meanwhile, US Forest Service officials in Minnesota have extended the closure of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness as the wildfires raze everywhere
