In a bid to curtail incessant road accident in akungba akoko movement of heavy duty trucks have now been restricted to between 11 pm and 4 am
Also, a barricade has been erected to prevent trucks’ entry until the stipulated time for their operations
ORANGEFM’s Gbenga Oluwajana Reports that the rubble of the latest road mishap that threw Akungba Akoko into mourning are still obvious ,a sad reminder of a similar incident last year that led to loss of many lives.
The students were is still in sober mood over the deaths of their colleagues as some garthered at the student union building where they observed a minute silence for the late former student union President.
The dean of students’ affairs Dr Olusegun Owolewa lamented the consequences of the fatal accident on the institution where the management was forced to cancel scheduled examination and shut the school indefinitely
Alale of Akungba Akoko Oba Sunday Adeyeye noted that restriction on the activities of heavy duty trucks would moderate the operations of the trucks
Ondo state command of federal road safety corp fingered overloading as one of the factors contributing to the incessant accidents
As at the time of filing this report, normalcy has returned to the town and hopes are high that profferd solutions would be a lasting repreive to the community’s nightmare.
