World Bank Report To China: IMF Chief Denies Involvement

IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva has denied that at her previous job with the World Bank, she pressed staff to alter a report to avoid angering China.

Based on the findings, the World Bank announced that it was discontinuing Doing  Business after the investigation found irregularities in the 2018 and 2020 editions.

The Bulgarian national who took a job at the International Monetary Fund in October 2019, rejected its conclusions regarding her role.

She said in a statement that she didnt agree with the findings and the Investigation of Data Irregularities as it relates to her role in the World Bank’s Doing Business report of 2018. 

Georgieva said she informed the IMF’s board on the situation and that it is expected to meet to discuss the issue.
