Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening justice delivery through the improvement of existing court facilities and modernisation of judicial administration.
Orange FM’s Olumide Adeluwoye report that the governor stated this at a special court session held at the High Court premises in Akure as part of activities marking the commencement of the 2026/2027 Legal Year of the Ondo State Judiciary.
The session brought together members of the Bench and Bar, government officials and other stakeholders in the justice sector.
In his address, the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, said the Judiciary had continued to evolve in response to the growth and changing needs of the state.
He noted that judicial services had expanded across Akure, Ondo, Owo, Okitipupa, Ikare, Idanre, Igbara-Oke, Ifon, Oka-Akoko and Ile-Oluji, with Ore serving as an important centre for judicial and dispute-resolution services.
Justice Odusola commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his policy initiatives and institutional development efforts aimed at strengthening the Judiciary.
Also speaking, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr Olukayode Ajulo, described the commencement of the Legal Year as more than a ceremonial event, saying it offered an opportunity to assess the justice system and renew commitment to the rule of law.
Ajulo also highlighted some of the achievements of the present administration in the judicial sector.
In his remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa stressed the importance of democracy, noting that its strength should be measured by the effectiveness of its institutions and their ability to protect citizens’ rights.
He added that judicial independence must be complemented by accountability, ethical conduct and professional discipline.
The governor expressed optimism that the new Legal Year would usher in another phase of transformation in the state’s justice system.
He congratulated the Chief Judge, members of the Bench and Bar, and the entire Ondo State Judiciary on the commencement of the 2026/2027 Legal Year, urging them to remain committed to the administration of justice and the protection of the rule of law.
