American R&B singer, Chris Brown, has avoided immediate imprisonment after a London court handed him an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, over an assault on a music producer at a nightclub in 2023.
Brown was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to attacking music producer Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.
The incident occurred in February 2023 when Brown allegedly struck Diaw with a tequila bottle during an altercation on the dance floor, leaving him with head and knee injuries that required hospital treatment.
In his ruling, Judge Tony Baumgartner described the attack as dangerous, warning that repeated blows with a glass bottle, particularly to the head, could have resulted in more serious injuries.
Brown’s vocal coach and associate, Omololu Akinlolu, who also pleaded guilty in connection with the incident, received a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months.
Both men were also ordered to pay £1,500 in costs.
The suspended sentences mean neither man will immediately serve time in prison, provided they comply with the conditions imposed by the court.
