The Ondo State Government has intensified public awareness campaigns and community engagement to prevent the spread of Ebola Virus Disease into the state, following an increase in the number of contacts being traced in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) from 44 to 53.
The Director of Public Health in the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Isaac Aladeniyi, disclosed this in an interview with Orange FM, assuring residents that the government was strengthening its preparedness and health safety measures.
Dr. Aladeniyi said the state was building on existing health response structures established during previous Lassa fever outbreaks to enhance its capacity to respond to potential public health threats.
He explained that the Ministry of Health had reactivated the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre to coordinate surveillance, preparedness and response efforts.
The Director added that the government was engaging community leaders, religious organisations and traditional rulers across the state to raise awareness and educate residents on preventive measures at the grassroots level.
He assured residents that the state’s health sector remained vigilant and was working with relevant stakeholders to protect public health and respond promptly to any emerging threats.
