AAUA SUSPENDS SIGNING-OUT CEREMONIES OVER SECURITY CONCERNS
The management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has suspended all signing-out ceremonies and related celebratory activities on campus with immediate effect, citing prevailing security concerns.
The directive was contained in a circular issued by the Registrar, Dr Grace Olubunmi Babalola, dated October 30, 2026, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Senate.
Under the directive, students are prohibited from organising, hosting or participating in signing-out parties, gatherings, processions and other celebrations associated with the completion of academic programmes anywhere on the university campus until the suspension is lifted.
The management specifically urged final-year students to comply strictly with the directive, which it said was aimed at safeguarding lives and property within the university community.
Deans, Heads of Departments, Heads of Units, security personnel and other relevant officials were also directed to ensure strict compliance and report any violation to the appropriate university authorities.
The Registrar warned that students and other members of the university community who flout the directive would face appropriate disciplinary measures in line with the institution’s existing laws and regulations.
She added that cases involving suspected criminal conduct would, where necessary, be referred to law enforcement agencies.
The university urged all concerned to cooperate with the management in maintaining a safe, peaceful and orderly campus environment, stressing that the suspension would remain in force until further notice.
