National chairmen and secretaries of six opposition political parties have begun consultations with their respective presidential candidates to explore a common strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Former All Progressives Congress National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday issued on behalf of the coalition, noting that discussions were ongoing.
The parties involved are the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied People’s Movement (APM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Lukman said those consulted included former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the ADC, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde of the APM, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the NDC, Adewole Adebayo of the SDP and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke of the PRP.
The consultations are part of efforts to implement resolutions reached at the G-100 opposition summit, which called for sustained dialogue and stronger cooperation among opposition parties to protect multiparty democracy and advance the interests of Nigerians.
Lukman explained that the discussions were aimed at developing a framework for cooperation, identifying shared priorities and determining practical steps towards a common democratic agenda.
Although no agreement has been announced on a single presidential candidate, the consultations signal ongoing efforts by the opposition parties to build consensus and strengthen their collective position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
