The Ondo State Government has intensified efforts to identify the source and assess the health implications of the persistent offensive odour reported in parts of Akure.
The Director of Public Health in the State Ministry of Health, Dr Isaac Aladeniyi, disclosed this in an interview with Orange FM, noting that the ministry was collaborating with the Ministry of Environment to address the situation.
Dr Aladeniyi said the ministry would begin distributing questionnaires to residents of affected areas within the next 72 hours to gather information on the odour and its impact on public health.
He explained that findings from the assessment would help experts determine the potential health risks associated with exposure to the airborne odour and guide the government in taking appropriate action.
Orange FM reports that Dr Aladeniyi assured residents that health officials were taking proactive measures and remained prepared to respond to any public health threats as investigations into the source of the odour continued.
