First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has unveiled a 110-million-naira empowerment package for elderly citizens and persons with disabilities in each participating senatorial district under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
The intervention is designed to support 250 elderly citizens and 250 persons with disabilities in each district, with each beneficiary receiving 200,000 naira.
Mrs Tinubu announced the package at a stakeholders’ meeting involving the All Progressives Congress leadership, senators, the party’s senatorial candidates and members of the Renewed Hope Initiative governing board.
She emphasised that the selection of beneficiaries must be transparent and free from discrimination on the grounds of political affiliation, religion or ethnicity.
The First Lady also solicited the cooperation of APC senatorial candidates in coordinating the implementation to ensure that the assistance gets to vulnerable Nigerians in their respective constituencies.
The package comprises the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme for Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly Support Scheme, with 55 million naira allocated to each programme per participating senatorial district.
