President Bola Tinubu says the operationalisation of new Nigerian Army formations in Zamfara, Kebbi, Oyo and Osun states will bring troops closer to vulnerable communities and strengthen their response to security threats.

The President disclosed this in a statement on measures being taken by his administration to improve the welfare and operational capacity of the Armed Forces.

According to Tinubu, the new formations are part of efforts to enhance the military’s capacity to respond swiftly to threats against communities.

He said the Nigerian Army had this week operationalised new formations in the four states, bringing troops closer to communities considered vulnerable to security threats.

Tinubu also disclosed that the Federal Government was accelerating the construction of new military barracks and depots in Abuja, Ekiti, Ebonyi and Kogi states, while facilities in Osun State had already been completed.

The President said the measures were necessary to provide better support for military personnel and their families, particularly as the government demands more from servicemen and women in the fight against insecurity.

He also noted that the recent increase in the salaries of members of the Armed Forces was already making a difference in the lives of personnel and their families.

Tinubu stressed that military deployments also have an impact on the families of personnel, who share in the sacrifices made by those serving the country.

The President said, as Commander-in-Chief, he had a responsibility to ensure that the Armed Forces were adequately equipped and supported to carry out their duties, while also providing necessary support for the families of military personnel.

He added that the government would continue to prioritise the welfare, operational readiness and capacity of the Armed Forces as they work to protect communities across Nigeria.
