Nollywood faith-based film Agbara Nla: The Return has grossed over 170.6 million naira in its first four days at the Nigerian box office.
Film distributor, Nile Group, announced the figure on Monday, describing the performance as a major milestone for the movie and faith-based cinema in Nigeria.
The distributor attributed the strong opening to massive patronage, with packed cinemas and sold-out shows reported across the country.
According to Nile Group, the film’s opening weekend set three records — the biggest non-December Nollywood opening weekend, the biggest October opening weekend, and the biggest opening weekend ever for a faith-based film in Nigeria.
The distributor said the movie’s performance goes beyond commercial success, describing it as an opportunity for audiences to experience faith, power and transformation on the big screen.
Agbara Nla: The Return is currently showing in cinemas nationwide.
The film is a contemporary adaptation of the 1993 Mount Zion classic, Agbara Nla, created by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye and later released in English as The Ultimate Power in 1994.
