Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen says the Super Falcons remain capable of overcoming Comoros despite several late withdrawals from his original squad for their 2028 Olympic qualifying fixture.
Nigeria will face Comoros in a two-legged encounter on October 9 and 13 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, with the matches being played in Nigeria because Comoros do not have a standard football pitch.
The winner on aggregate will advance to the third round of the five-round African qualifying series, scheduled for March 2027.
Eguavoen confirmed the withdrawals of forward Asisat Oshoala and defenders Ashley Plumptre and Oluwatosin Demehin but expressed confidence in the players called up to replace them.
He said the replacements possess the quality and experience required to help the team secure a positive result against Comoros.
Eguavoen added that the rest of the squad had settled well in camp ahead of the two fixtures.
Belarus-based forward Blessing Okpe, who received a late invitation, remains the only player yet to arrive at the team’s camp in Ijebu-Ode.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade will lead the Falcons as they begin their quest for a second successive appearance at the Olympic Games, having featured at Paris 2024.
Goalkeepers in camp are Chiamaka Nnadozie, Comfort Erhabor and Christiana Uzoma.
The defenders are Farida Abdulwahab, Sandra John, Tumininu Adeshina, Valentina Uroko, Glory Edet, Shukurat Oladipo and Glory Ogbonna.
Midfielders include Christy Ucheibe, Toni Payne, Favour Omenazu, Joy Igbokwe, Jennifer Echegini, Fatimoh Solaty and Suliat Abideen.
The forwards are Rasheedat Ajibade, Shakirat Moshood, Blessing Nkor, Folashade Ijamilusi, Janet Akekoromowei, Uchenna Kanu, Gift Monday and Joy Omewa.
