Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr Olayide Adelami, has charged public office holders to discharge their responsibilities with the fear of God and a good conscience to leave lasting legacies even after retirement.
Orange FM’s Ebunoluwa Akinroyeje report that Dr. Adelami gave the charge at a valedictory court sitting held in honour of the former Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ekiti Division, Honourable Justice Oyebisi Folayemi Omoleye, whom he described as a courageous and disciplined judicial officer who made significant contributions to the judiciary and constitutional democracy.
Representing Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the ceremony, the deputy governor said Justice Omoleye distinguished herself through meritorious service and positively impacted many lives during her years on the bench.
He noted that testimonies from her colleagues and her record of service reflected her courage, discipline, and commitment to the administration of justice.
Adelami congratulated the retired justice on her distinguished career and urged younger lawyers and judicial officers to emulate her exemplary conduct and contributions to public service.
In a special tribute, the President of the Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, commended Justice Omoleye for her contributions to the Nigerian judiciary and the administration of justice.
Dongban-Mensem, represented by Honourable Justice Ali Babandi Gumel, gave the commendation at the ceremony marking Justice Omoleye’s retirement from judicial service upon attaining the constitutionally prescribed retirement age of 70.
In her valedictory speech, Justice Omoleye expressed gratitude to God for His protection and support throughout her judicial career.
She observed that her years in public service had taught her that the law extended beyond the courtroom, with far-reaching effects on families, institutions, businesses, and communities.
The retired justice also said her 20 years on the Court of Appeal bench had reinforced her belief that judging required restraint.

She appreciated her senior colleagues, fellow judicial officers, family members, and friends for their support throughout her career, while praying for God’s favour upon them and their children.
The valedictory sitting attracted legal luminaries, members of the bench, top government functionaries, family members, colleagues, and friends of the retired justice from within and outside Nigeria, who gathered to celebrate her contributions to the legal profession and public service.
