Political parties have begun engaging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the omission of several candidates from its final list for the 2027 general elections.
Affected candidates include former Communications Minister, Professor Isa Pantami, and PDP governorship candidates Oladipupo Adebutu of Ogun State and the party’s candidate in Gombe State.
Others are Aminu Gwarzo of the Nigeria Democratic Congress in Kano State, former Senator Danjuma Tella La’ah in Kaduna State, and Professor Sebastine Hon of the Social Democratic Party in Benue State.
While some parties blame administrative errors, others face internal disputes and pending legal cases. The Action Alliance has also threatened legal action over the omissions.
In a statement on Sunday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the party was engaging INEC to resolve the omissions in Ogun and Gombe states in line with electoral laws and guidelines.
The party urged affected candidates and supporters to remain calm as discussions continue, amid concerns over possible legal battles ahead of the elections.
