Organised labour and other stakeholders have called on the Ondo State Government to improve workers’ welfare, remuneration and incentives in response to prevailing economic realities.

Orange FM’s Ebunoluwa Akinroyeje report that the call was made during a forum organised as part of activities marking the 2026 Public Service Week in the state.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ademola Olapade, described workers as the backbone of government, urging the state government to give greater consideration to their welfare.

Olapade, who commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the payment of outstanding gratuities to pensioners, said adequately motivated civil servants would enhance effective governance and service delivery.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Ondo State, Comrade Clement Fatuase, called on the government to protect the public service from undue political interference.

Fatuase also urged the state government to intensify the training and retraining of workers to develop their skills and maximise their potential for improved productivity.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his efforts towards improving workers’ welfare.

The Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, thereafter led the state workforce in a renewed commitment to dedicated service to the state and its people.
