The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has intensified recovery operations at the site of the crashed ATR 42-500 aircraft, NAF 931, in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.
ORANGE FM Newsroom reports that the aircraft crashed two weeks ago, with efforts to recover the wreckage and remains of the 25 victims still ongoing.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, during a visit to the site, appealed to Nigerians to remain patient with the military as recovery operations continue.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the NAF said continuous pumping had significantly reduced the water level at the crash site.
The service added that the recovery team was working to remove most of the remaining water, subject to prevailing conditions.
The NAF commended the dedication and professionalism of recovery personnel and partner agencies, with special appreciation to Hitech Construction Company for its support.
It reaffirmed its commitment to completing the operation safely and methodically while supporting the ongoing aircraft accident investigation.
The Air Force also expressed sympathy with the bereaved families, acknowledging their pain and anguish, and pledged to provide timely, verified updates as recovery efforts progress.
It further appreciated the patience and cooperation of the Igbokoda community and the continued support of other stakeholders.
