Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Mr Eazi, has expressed confidence that he could soon become Afrobeats’ first United States dollar billionaire, while maintaining that accumulating wealth is not his primary ambition.

The singer, whose real name is Oluwatosin Ajibade, made this known during an interview wotj newsmen where he discussed his financial ambitions, business interests and commitment to musical independence.

When asked whether he agreed with suggestions that he was on his way to becoming Afrobeats’ first billionaire, Mr Eazi said his response depended on the currency being considered.

He affirmed that he was a billionaire in Nigerian naira but expressed optimism about achieving the same milestone in United States dollars.

The singer said the dollar milestone could happen soon, although he emphasised that becoming a billionaire was not the ultimate goal he was pursuing.

Mr Eazi explained that he was more grateful for the life he currently enjoys and the freedom to pursue his musical interests without unnecessary restrictions.

He described creative independence as particularly important to him, stressing that the ability to make music and release it on his own terms was one of the things he valued most.

Beyond his music career, Mr Eazi has established business interests spanning entertainment, investments and technology.

He founded emPawa Africa, a platform that supports emerging African musicians through artist development and other services.

He has also pursued investments through his business ventures, reflecting his interest in building wealth beyond music.

During the interview, the singer acknowledged having a stake in a United Kingdom-based ticketing business, further highlighting his entrepreneurial activities outside the entertainment industry.

He was also asked whether he could be regarded as Africa’s Jay-Z, drawing a comparison between his music career, business interests and those of the American rapper and entrepreneur.

Mr Eazi appeared comfortable with the comparison and made a playful reference to his marriage to Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire businessman Femi Otedola.

His comments have generated renewed conversations about the growing business influence of African musicians and the opportunities available to entertainers who diversify into other sectors.

However, the singer’s prediction remains an expression of confidence about his financial future, as no independently verified figures have established that he is approaching billionaire status in United States dollars.

Mr Eazi’s remarks highlight his ambition to expand his business interests while preserving the creative freedom that continues to shape his musical career.
