The Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has launched a new security operation, code-named Operation Laafia Dandan, to strengthen security and flush out criminal elements across the state ahead of the festive season.
The State Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, announced the operation while parading fifteen suspects arrested for various offences, including kidnapping, anti-grazing violations, breach of public peace, burglary and theft.
Adeleye said the new operation would focus on intelligence-led patrols, border surveillance and round-the-clock security monitoring across the eighteen local government areas of Ondo State.
He explained that the initiative was designed to prevent criminal activities during the ember months and yuletide, with particular attention to highways, forests and identified security flashpoints.
The Amotekun Commander said the corps had concluded its previous security operation and was commencing a fresh phase of intelligence-driven patrols to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the festive period.
He disclosed that three hundred and one suspects had been arrested in the past three months for offences ranging from kidnapping and anti-grazing violations to burglary, theft and looting of schools.
Adeleye also paraded three suspects allegedly linked to the kidnapping of a poultry farm owner and the killing of a woman.
The rescued victim, who recounted his experience, commended the Amotekun Corps for its intervention.
To further strengthen security, the commander announced the deployment of one thousand two hundred personnel across the eighteen local government areas, with increased focus on border patrols, forest surveillance and electronic monitoring of identified black spots.
He assured residents that the corps would intensify efforts to protect lives and property throughout the festive season.
