SPAIN TRANSPORT MINISTER RESIGNS AFTER DEADLY TRAIN CRASH
Spain’s Transport Minister, Óscar Puente, has resigned six days after a train collision that killed 69 people and injured several others.
Puente announced his resignation in Parliament after giving evidence on last Wednesday’s disaster near Urda, south of the capital, Madrid, where a moving train crashed into the rear of a stationary train.
He said he could no longer continue as minister in a country where two major rail accidents had occurred within less than a year.
Puente was referring to a January train crash that claimed 46 lives.
The latest accident is among the deadliest rail disasters in modern European history and Spain’s worst train incident since 2013
