PONMO DEALER REMANDED OVER ALLEGED UNHYGIENIC PROCESSING
A cow-skin dealer, Adebola Alonge, has been remanded at the Correctional Centre over alleged unhygienic processing of ponmo at her facility in Akure, Ondo State.
Alonge was arraigned before the Chief Magistrate and Environmental Court in Alagbaka, Akure, following complaints by residents about activities at the facility on Igboliki Street.
The Akure South Local Government said an environmental inspection revealed unhygienic practices at the facility, which had reportedly operated in the area for over 21 years.
The prosecution subsequently presented the defendant in court and requested an order for her remand pending hearing.
Presiding Magistrate, Afolashade Ayemo, granted the request and ordered that Alonge be remanded at the Correctional Centre.
The case was adjourned until November 9, 2026, for hearing.
