The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will on Tuesday hold a national stakeholders’ meeting and World Press Conference to mark 100 days to the 2027 general elections.
The commission is expected to provide updates on its preparations for the polls, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures being put in place to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
The meeting, scheduled for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, will be addressed by the INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN, alongside other stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
In a statement issued on Sunday, INEC said the engagement was aimed at providing Nigerians and key actors in the electoral process with an update on its level of preparedness as the elections enter the final 100-day stretch.
The commission said it would provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and critical measures to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
It added that the national stakeholders’ meeting would strengthen engagement with institutions and groups whose activities are central to the conduct and security of the elections.
INEC said the engagement underscores its commitment to transparency, proactive public communication and collaboration with key actors across the electoral ecosystem.
Expected participants include political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security, members of the diplomatic corps, development partners, civil society organisations and election observer groups.
Also expected are disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives.
The meeting comes as preparations for the 2027 general elections enter a critical phase, with INEC expected to complete various logistical, administrative and technological arrangements ahead of the polls.
The commission has not indicated whether any changes to the electoral timetable will be announced at the meeting.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, with guests expected to be seated by that time.
INEC said the proceedings would be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms to allow wider public access.
Attendance at the venue will be strictly by invitation, while accredited journalists and invited guests will be required to present their invitation cards or accreditation badges at security checkpoints.
