President Bola Tinubu has taken a swipe at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), thanking the opposition party for keeping him awake as he met supporters of the CityBoy Movement and Relax Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) in Abuja on Monday.
“Some people thought by now I would be tired and sleepy since I arrived here on time. Thank you, ADC,” Tinubu said.
The remark comes ahead of the 2027 presidential election, in which former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the ADC’s presidential candidate.
Tinubu praised the CityBoy Movement for what he described as an innovative grassroots mobilisation structure, with millions of verifiable members across states, local governments, wards and polling units.
He also commended its engagement with young Nigerians through a call centre and the CityBoy Care initiative, expressing confidence that the movement’s grassroots activities would strengthen his re-election campaign.
The President said the mobilisation efforts would allow him to return home and “sleep soundly.”
