Nigeria’s Flamingos head coach, Akeem Busari, has urged his players to remain mentally composed and improve their finishing as they prepare for a decisive group-stage encounter against Korea DPR at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos revived their campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over tournament debutants Puerto Rico at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, bouncing back from their opening-day defeat to Poland.
However, Busari admitted that the victory did not come easily, noting that his side struggled to convert chances, particularly in the first half.
He described the encounter as a tough and competitive contest, stressing that the tournament was becoming increasingly demanding.
The coach also highlighted the importance of psychological preparation in helping the young players recover from their opening defeat, explaining that constant encouragement and guidance were crucial to rebuilding their confidence.
Busari said the players responded positively to the support, showing improved composure against Puerto Rico compared with their performance against Poland.
He urged the team to build on the victory, sharpen their attacking edge and maintain the mental strength needed to secure a positive result against Korea DPR.
